Philips Hue Unveils Smart Kitchen Lighting Solution in Europe
Philips Hue is diving into the world of smart under-cabinet kitchen lighting, and surprise, surprise, they’re doing it in the priciest way possible. But hey, if you’re into full-color lighting for your avocado toast, this might be your jam. At the IFA tech show in Berlin, Philips Hue’s parent company, Signify, announced a partnership with Nobilia, Europe’s largest kitchen manufacturer. This means custom Philips Hue smart lights integrated into kitchen furniture—no more third-party hacks needed.
The new offerings include color-capable recessed spotlights for cabinets and linear gradient light bars for shelving, all hardwired into your home’s electrical system. But don’t get too excited if you’re in the US; it’ll be at least a year before these hit American shores. And if you’re dreaming of a DIY solution, keep dreaming. Philips Hue’s CTO, George Yianni, hinted that this is just the beginning, with hopes for more DIY-friendly products in the future.
Meanwhile, for those who can’t wait, Signify also announced the Philips Hue Ensis pendant light fixture is now available in the US. This $479.99 chandelier-style light, perfect for hanging over your kitchen or dining table, offers full color and tunable white light. So, while you wait for the kitchen lights, you can still upgrade your dining experience.
